About Heritage Horsemanship

Heritage Horsemanship is owned by Lilly Richardson, out of Connecticut.

With more than 20 years, loving, riding, and learning horses; for the past decade, Lilly brings that experience to horse training. Specializing in Mustang/feral horse gentling, groundwork and connection building, re-starting older horses, and common behavioral issues. Throughout her career, she has worked with a diverse range of equine breeds, each with their unique histories and temperaments.

With a Natural Horsemanship style focusing on equine psychology-Heritage Horsemanship does not believe that there is a “one size fits all” approach to horse training. With that idea, Lilly works with the horse where they’re at, and implements groundwork as well as understanding the horse brain to build a strong and lasting relationship between horse and HUMAN.

Along her journey in the training industry, saddle fit has been a big contribution to how a horse preforms and feels, and how bad fit can even cause behavioral issues. With this, Lilly has worked with custom saddle and tree makers and learned as much as she can about true western saddle fit. With a passion for the horse, she brings years of knowledge to you.

Please see “Western Saddle Fitting”  page for more information.

  1. Lilly is an excellent horsewoman; all around. She knows the animal, and knows more about western saddles than anyone I have met in the North East.
After years of behavioral issues from my horse, because of a saddle I was told fit by another fitter, Lilly remedied it, and he is so much more happier and his topline has improved greatly.
